Privacy Policy

Shwoncast DJ for Android · Last updated 14 August 2026

Shwoncast DJ does not collect your personal data. There is no account to create, no sign-up, and no server of ours that your information is sent to.

There are no adverts and no tracking. The app contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting service and no behavioural tracking of any kind. Nothing measures how you use it.

Your data stays on your device — except when you broadcast to a server you chose, and in the two third-party lookups described in section 3.

1. Who this policy is from

Shwoncast DJ is developed and published by Tatioti Mbogning Raoul, an independent developer working under his own name. He is the person responsible for the data described in this policy. There is no company behind Shwoncast; "Shwoncast" is the name of the application, not of a legal entity.

This policy covers the Shwoncast DJ Android application, distributed on Google Play as cm.shwoncast.dj. Questions about it go to tatioti.mbogning.ra@gmail.com.

2. What stays on your device

The following is stored locally, in the app's private storage, and is never transmitted to us:

Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

3. What leaves your device

3.1 Your broadcast, to the server you choose

When you go live, the app sends your audio, the song title and artist, and your login credentials to the Icecast or Shoutcast server you have configured. We do not operate that server, we never see this traffic, and it goes nowhere else. What the server does with it is governed by whoever runs it.

If you enable SSL/TLS for the account, this traffic is encrypted, the server's certificate is verified, and the server name is checked against it. For a server using its own self-signed certificate, the app shows you the certificate fingerprint and asks you to accept it once; it is then remembered for that account and the connection is refused if it ever changes.

3.2 Artist and album information, from two public services

When you open an artist or album screen, the app looks up biography text, artwork and public play counts. To do that it sends the artist name and album name only to:

ServiceWhat is sentTheir policy
Last.fm Artist name, album name, your device's language setting last.fm/legal/privacy
Deezer Artist name (to fetch an artist image) deezer.com/legal/personal-datas

These are ordinary web requests, so those services can see your IP address, as any website you visit can. No identifier of you or your device is attached, nothing is sent about which songs you play or when, and the app does not scrobble your listening history anywhere. If you never open an artist or album screen, these requests never happen.

3.3 What is playing, to other apps on your device

Like most Android music players, Shwoncast DJ announces track changes to the rest of the device so that companion apps — scrobblers, lyrics apps, smartwatch faces, car dashboards — can show what you are listening to. The announcement contains the track title, artist, album, duration, playback position and whether playback is running.

This is a system-wide broadcast, so in principle any app installed on your device can read it. It never leaves the device and no part of it reaches us or the internet. There is currently no setting to switch it off; if that matters to you, please write and say so.

4. Permissions, and why each one exists

PermissionWhy
Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) To capture your voice for the live broadcast. Audio is used only while you are broadcasting or recording, and goes only to your own server or your own chosen folder.
Music and audio files To find and play the music already on your device, and to save recordings to the folder you pick.
Internet and network state To reach the broadcast server you configured, and the two lookups in section 3.
Notifications To show playback controls and broadcast status while the app is in the background.
Foreground service (media playback, microphone) So playback and your broadcast keep running when you switch to another app or turn the screen off. Android requires this to be declared.
Bluetooth To respond to controls on connected headsets and speakers.
Wake lock To stop the device sleeping mid-broadcast and cutting your show off.
Modify audio settings For the equaliser and audio effects.
Run at startup To restore playback state after the device restarts.
Modify system settings (WRITE_SETTINGS) Only for the "Set as ringtone" option. Android asks you separately before this is granted, and the app changes nothing else in your system settings.
Send sticky broadcasts To announce the current track to companion apps, as described in section 3.3.

5. Children

Shwoncast DJ is a broadcasting tool intended for general audiences. It is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

6. Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to show you, correct, export or delete. Everything the app stores is on your own device and under your control: clear it from Android's app settings, delete individual DJ accounts and recordings in the app, or uninstall to remove all of it at once.

If you have broadcast to a third-party server, any records of that sit with whoever operates it — you would need to ask them.

7. Security

Broadcast connections can be encrypted with SSL/TLS, and from version 2.5.0 the server's certificate is properly verified and pinned to the account.

Your server credentials are stored in the app's private storage, which Android keeps isolated from other applications. Be aware that they are stored unencrypted within that private area, so anyone with physical access to an unlocked device, or with root access, could read them. Use a device lock, and prefer a broadcast password that is not reused elsewhere.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's changelog.
